What Teenagers Want For Christmas Gifts

When it comes to buying something for those who have left childhood, but are not quite adults, you can have a hard time finding something that you think they will like. Teens can be hard to buy for and that means your chances of getting the right thing are slim if you don’t put some time and thought into what you want to get for them. If they are your own children, they have probably already been dropping hints.  When you have to buy for someone else’s children, you have a lot to consider when buying a Christmas gift for a teenager.

All teenagers are different and you have to take those differences into consideration when you buy. For the most part, they have one hobby or activity that they love.  If you think about that particular interest, you may get some ideas.  You don’t want to buy them something that they already have. If they have a favorite singer, for example, they may already have all of their CDs, but they may not have special DVDs of concert footage or any other number of things that singers and artists put out on the market these days. Ask the parents if the child has something before you get it though, just to avoid the repeat.

Teenagers, like adults, may also have something that they collect. This can help when choosing a Christmas gift for a teenager. If you know what they collect, you can look around online for something that goes with their collection. Looking online is smart because you have more options and are less likely to choose something they already have, or that someone else might be getting for them. If you can do so, ask to see their collection. They may show you what they have without realizing why you are asking to see it.

Other times, buying a Christmas gift for a teenager is daunting and that is when the gift certificate comes into play. You know that most teens love to shop and the one you are buying for is probably no exception. You can get them gift certificates for things to do, like the movies or mini golf with friends, or you can find out where they like to shop and get them a certificate from that store. Sometimes, the gift certificate is the best way to go no matter what and is something that will always be welcome by both teen and adult alike.

Giving A Christmas Gift Card

Christmas shopping is one of the most stressful, demanding preparation for enjoyment and celebration that exists. So many people, so many choices, so many ways to hate the whole process. Take a look at your gift list and see if you can’t have a better time this holiday season by giving at least some of your recipients a Christmas gift card.

Personal

Some of the people on your gift list are expecting an inexpensive gift. How can you come up with a personal, thoughtful present that isn’t just another box of candy or gag novelty? A personalized, homemade Christmas gift card is just the ticket. You can make up cards with the giftee’s name and a special recipe, list of jokes or thoughtful poetry on your computer using templates found online. If you want to give a little more, you can include a gift certificate. This inexpensive alternative to the boxed displays at the drug store will show that you appreciate your relationship with the recipient without embarrassing anyone with an inappropriately expensive gift.

Shopping Spree

Most stores offer a Christmas gift card that act like debit cards. You can buy them for whatever amount you want. At holiday time, they usually come in special, festive designs. You can get them for stores that carry a large selection of items if you’re not sure what type of gift someone would like or you can get a card for the type of specialty store that you know each someone would most like.

This is a very good idea if you’re trying to figure out which music CD a teen would like but not already have or which one of a rack of sweaters would be loved without guessing embarrassingly wrong on the size. Not to mention that there are very few people on your gift list that you could be trusted to decide on the right pair of footwear for. A store Christmas gift card is the answer for everyone who would appreciate getting something that they would like.

Thoughtfulness

Not everyone enjoys a shopping trip or really needs something new this year. Charities issue gift cards that reflect donations made in the name of the recipient. If you know that someone on your list has all the pen sets that he or she can possibly use but has a cause that is near and dear to the heart, a generous gift to a charity is well within the holiday spirit. The best part of giving a Christmas gift card is that they come in all price ranges and one convenient size. You can carry a pile of them to a family party without breaking anything, everyone will get what they want and you will get a big “oooh” when each one is opened.
